Meet Your New Principal

PicMonkey Collage (2)I am so excited to be your new principal and look forward to meeting all of you soon!

I started my career in Carmel student teaching at Cherry Tree in 2003, and that December, after graduating, I received a teaching job at Towne Meadow Elementary.  While at Towne Meadow I served as  the tech coordinator and taught various grade levels: 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 4/5 GT.  I recently completed my 4th year as the assistant principal of College Wood Elementary.   I also bring a wealth of various leadership experiences and certifications with me, including being an Indiana School Safety Specialist, Google Certified Teacher, Certified CPI instructor, and member of the Indiana eLearning Leadership Cadre.

My faith and my family are incredibly important to me.  I am married to my supportive wife Lindsay, who taught 4th grade for many years at Heritage Christian before staying home with our two boys Asher (5) and Jesse (3).  I love spending time with my family and look forward to getting to know your families too!

I believe whole-heartedly in teamwork and look forward to partnering with the amazing staff and families of Cherry Tree, making sure our students continually experience excellence, explore opportunities, and realize potential.

Below is an interactive poster, please click on some of the dots and icons on each picture to get to know me a little more.  Also, keep following this new blog and our other new various social media outlets to stay up to date with the latest from Cherry Tree.  I can’t wait to meet all of you!

Welcome to Cherry Tree! We look forward to a great school year with you as our leader. Michael will be in the 4/5 GT program this fall. He is a 4th grader. He enjoyed two years with Mrs. Urtel. His sister Ella will be in 6th grade at CMS. She was in the 4/5 GT program for 5th grade. We transferred to CCS from the Munster School District in May 2012.

    Kind regards,

    Dave, Nikki, Ella and Michael
